One of the breast implant options you will be given prior to your Phoenix breast augmentation procedure is silicone or saline filled implants. Both types of breast implants can provide you with a more appealing aesthetic appearance and be used to effectively enhance the appearance of your chest, but there are distinct differences that should be taken into account prior to making a decision.
Differences between Silicone and Saline Breast Implants
Saline filled breast implants are filled after they are placed. This allows our board-certified Arizona breast augmentation surgeons, to make a smaller incision which may slightly decrease surgical and recovery time. Saline breast implants are the only type available for women under the age of 22.
Although rare, saline breast implants are more likely to show early aesthetic imperfections such as rippling or wrinkling, as well as double bubble. They also look and feel less natural than silicone filled alternatives.
Silicone filled implants look and feel like natural breast tissue. They are less likely to result in aesthetic imperfections and are lighter than saline implants, further reducing your risk of bottoming out or sagging.
Silicone breast implants are filled prior to placement which will require a larger incision. This can potentially increase surgical and recovery time. However, many women find this reasonable when considering the increased aesthetics and feel of silicone implants.
During your initial consultation, our surgeons will discuss all of your options and help you determine what type of implant is best for you.
