The CO2 Laser Resurfacing Procedure
CO2 Laser is a carbon dioxide laser that removes the outer layers of damaged skin and promotes the regeneration of healthy skin. Simply put, this laser has the ability to remove the damaged outer layers of skin and reveal a more youthful glow and finish to the skin. The procedure is not as effective at facial rejuvenation as a facelift but falls somewhere in between injectables and a facelift as far as the level of correction it can achieve.
While patients typically feel minimal discomfort during treatment, a topical anesthetic is applied before the procedure to ensure patient comfort. During treatment, the CO2 laser produces a beam with thousands of small shafts of light. These shafts of light penetrate deep into the skin, causing micro-injuries. This, in turn, triggers the body’s natural repair system, stimulating collagen and elastin production. The entire face can be treated in as little as 30 minutes, though total treatment time can differ depending on the number of laser passes needed. While a CO2 laser treatment can be a standalone procedure, we frequently combine CO2 treatments with other facial rejuvenating procedures for the face, neck, brow, and eye for stunning results.
