Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Laser Skin Resurfacing is minimally invasive and uses a concentrated beam of light to remove the dull and damaged outer layers of skin.
This treatment can address sun damage, uneven pigmentation, skin laxity, fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, under eye circles, acne, and acne scarring. The most common areas treated with the CO2 lasers include the face, neck, and hands.
The best candidates for CO2 laser treatments are those with lighter skin tones. If you are looking to dramatically improve your skin’s appearance, this treatment may be right for you. A consultation at our office is needed to help determine if this treatment can help you to meet your aesthetic goals.

CO2 Laser is a carbon dioxide laser that removes the outer layers of damaged skin and promotes the regeneration of healthy skin. Simply put, this laser has the ability to remove the damaged outer layers of skin and reveal a more youthful glow and finish to the skin. The procedure is not as effective at facial rejuvenation as a facelift but falls somewhere in between injectables and a facelift as far as the level of correction it can achieve.
While patients typically feel minimal discomfort during treatment, a topical anesthetic is applied prior to the procedure to ensure patient comfort. During treatment, the CO2 laser produces a beam with thousands of small shafts of light. These shafts of light penetrate deep into the skin, causing micro injuries. This, in turn, triggers the body’s natural repair system, stimulating collagen and elastin production. The entire face can be treated in as little as 30 minutes, though total treatment time can differ depending on the number of laser passes needed. While a CO2 laser treatment can be a standalone procedure, we frequently combine CO2 treatments with other facial rejuvenating procedures for the face, neck, brow, and eye for stunning results.

Transfer of fat to the face is a natural solution to achieve a more youthful look and enhance the results of facial plastic surgery procedures.
Using the patient’s own fat cells, a fat graft, or fat transfer can be used as an alternative to implants or facial fillers. By using your own natural fat cells, a subtle enhancement is achieved for long-lasting, natural results.

During your initial consultation, one of our surgeons will evaluate the condition of your skin and your overall health.Â
Facial cosmetic procedures can be performed alone or in combination with other procedures. After listening to your goals and concerns, they will recommend the facial rejuvenation options that will best achieve the results you desire.
Our surgeons believe it’s important for patients to be well-educated about the risks associated with any cosmetic surgery, including facelift.
Following a CO2 laser treatment, patients may feel as though their skin is sunburned for 24 hours. Ice packs can be used to help reduce any discomfort and control swelling. Overall healing time depends on how deep the treatment was.Â
Your skin might take up to 3 weeks to heal from the CO2 laser therapy. You will find that your skin has turned slightly pink during this time and there are some improvements in the tone and texture of your skin. Once your skin has completely healed, you will see your final results. Usually, this happens in 3 to 6 months from the treatment for most people. When you continue to follow a good skin care regimen and avoid sun damage with the use of SPF, you will be able to retain your stunning results for many years.
Patients should avoid sun exposure both before and after their CO2 laser treatment for best results.
Generally, one Fraxel treatment is sufficient to see results but it depends on you and the skin care goals you have. Usually, dermatologists recommend 3 to 5 treatment sessions for your skin issues. In case you are undergoing Fraxel treatment for minimizing the post-surgical scars, 3 treatment sessions are recommended. Depending on your reaction to the treatment, you will have to space your treatment sessions by a few weeks. Usually, your Fraxel treatments should be at least 3 to 8 weeks apart.
